Lonnie Strickland Obituary

Lonnie Strickland, Sr.
CONCORD -- Mr. Strickland, 59, of 1514 Ray Suggs Place, died October 26, 2003 at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Memorial service is 4:00 PM Wednesday, October 29, at Concord Christian Church, with Reverend Mike Wood officiating. The family will receive friends and the body will lie in state at Whitley's Funeral Home from 2:00 to 3:30 PM Wednesday.
Mr. Strickland was born February 9, 1944 in Scotland County, NC, to Helen Lowery Strickland and the late Clemmon Strickland. He retired from Cone Mills, Inc., Pineville plant and Salisbury plant, and was a member of Concord Christian Church. Mr. Strickland was an avid NASCAR fan and Dale Earnhardt fan.
Survivors include his wife Gracie Berry Strickland; daughter, Cynthia Ann Strickland of Concord; son, Lonnie Strickland, Jr. of Concord; grandchildren, Clayton and Craig Strickland; mother, Helen Strickland of Pinehurst; four sisters, Carolyn Mullins of Titusville, FL, Virginia Bryant of Maxton, NC, Betty Ann Deese of Maxton, NC and Marie Simmons of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Concord Christian Church, 3101 Davidson Highway, Concord, NC 28027.
Whitley's Funeral Home of Kannapolis is serving the Strickland family.
