My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Sonny's family. He was my neighbor for about 16 years. My children are also friends with his granddaughter, Megan. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed. One of my fondest memories of him was how he and his wife, Colette would sit on their porch swing together in the evenings. You could just see the love they had for one another. May God bless you and give you peace & comfort during these difficult times.

To Mr. Helms Family,
I cannot express the sorrow I felt in learning of your Dad's passing. I had the privilege of caring for him for a brief period of time while he was at Charlotte Healthcare and he was absolutely precious. I was one of his nurses. We developed a friendship when we first met each other and we were instantly "buddies". I didn't even have to be assigned to his room and I would still go see how my "buddy" was and I could always count on a hug. Of course, we contributed our instant friendship to the fact that we shared the same birthday and then we'd laugh. I know from that brief period of time what an excellent Daddy he was from the devotion that I saw from his daughter that was there everyday and his son that would always come after work, even if he had worked 16 hours. How ironic that I was just thinking about him last week. My thoughts & prayers are now with you in your loss and what a loss for this world. I will especially be praying for you as you prepare to celebrate his life and in the days to follow. I am so sorry. He was so loved and it was truly an honor and a privilege to have known him.

Sonny was a great man,who was loved by many people. He loved children very much.My kids(Dillon & Devin)adored him. Sonny would let Dillon come over & help him out around the yard or garge.Devin loved going over there to sit on the swing on the fornt porch & talk & he would listen.Just like Jesus,he saw the best in bad situations & would help anyone out in need.I know the family is taking it hard,I'm also apart of his family, but I know I'll get to see him again one day in heaven. He's with my father rejoicing!Sonny's smile would brighten up anyones day.Praise God Sonny is finally at rest!!
