Lulu Hope Hoffman Hendley
ALBEMARLE -- Mrs. Hendley, 82, of 2410 Badin Rd., Albemarle, NC, died March 12, 2005. Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2005 in Stanly Memorial Chapel. Rev. Leslee Wray will officiate. Burial will be in Stony Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Born October 7, 1922 in Califon, NJ, the daughter of Mamie Apgar Henderson. She was educated at High Bridge, NJ and was a retired merchant.
She was a member of Stony Hill United Methodist Church and also was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and the American Red Cross Stanly County Chapter and was member of the bereavement committee at Stony Hill United Methodist Church.
She was married to the late James R. Hendley who preceded her in death in 2003.
Survivors include son, James R. Hendley, Jr. of Laguna Nigel, CA; daughters, Jean H. Hendley of Mt. Gilead and Nancy H. Vasser and husband, David of Badin; sister, Ruth Hoffman of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren, James R. Hendley, III, J.D. Hendley and Jacob Vasser; great-grandchildren, Tyler Hendley, Kyle Nicole Hendley, Max Hendley, Wyatt Hendley and Tanner Hendley.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Janis Hendley and a grandson Jody Hendley.
Memorials may be made to the Stony Hill UMC Building Fund, 28996 Stony Hill Rd., Albemarle or to Hospice of Stanly Couty, 960 N. 1st Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stanly Funeral Home.
