Mabel Moore Pope
'Mab'
MARSHVILLE -- Mabel Pope died July 26, 2010, Monday evening at the Hospice House in Monroe. Born August 31, 1914 in Union County, she was a daughter of the late Cyrus F. Moore and Mary Virginia Cox Moore.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Walter Grant Pope, son, James Harold Pope, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mabel will be held Thursday, July 29 at 11 am at the Philadelphia Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 am to service time in the church fellowship building.
Survivors include a son, Ralph Pope and wife Marie of Marshville; daughter-in-law Judy of Mt. Holly; 5 grandchildren, Wendy, Rachel and husband Andy, Lori and husband Tim, Paula and husband Chuck and Sheri and husband Patrick; 8 great-grandchildren, Austin, Nicole, Tyler, Alex, Jordan, Cameron, MacKenzie and Madison.
Memorials are made to Philadelphia Baptist Church building fund, 5709 Philadelphia Church Road, Marshville, NC 28103 or Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to the caregivers at Clare Bridge at Monroe Square and Hospice.
The Morgan & Son Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Pope.
