Mae Johnson Lawton
Mrs. Lawton, 90, of 5151 Sardis Road, Charlotte, died on Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at Sardis Oaks in Charlotte. A native of Davidson County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Dewitt Clinton and Annie Hoover Johnson. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Asbury Lawton, Jr.; by three brothers, and two sisters. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Gastonia and an associate member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Charlotte. She loved her friends and family.
Mrs. Lawton is survived by a son, 'Trip' Lawton and his wife Candler of Charlotte; daughters, Tressa L. Pearson and her husband, Tom, of Charlotte and Elizabeth Giacofci and her husband, Joe, of Clarks Summitt, PA; five grandchildren, Rebecca Lawton Turner and her husband, Michael, of Charlotte, Ashley Elizabeth Giacofci of Clarks Summitt, PA, Anna Frances Lawton of Charlotte, NC, Ann Lawton Pearson of Atlanta, GA, and Matthew Joseph Giacofci of Harrisburg, PA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 23, 2004 at 11:00 AM at St. Stephen United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Richard Randolph officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to one of the following organizations: Assistance League of Charlotte, Inc, PO Box 471112, Charlotte, NC 28247-1112; St. Stephen United Methodist Church Building Fund, 6800 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270; or Symphony Guild of Charlotte, Inc., 1515 Mockingbird Lane, Suite 406, Charlotte, NC 28209-3236.
McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia are serving the Lawton family.
