Margaret Tuttle Obituary

Margaret Kersh Tuttle
'Peggie'
LAKE WYLIE -- Mrs. Tuttle, 90, died Sunday, February 12, 2006, at her home in Lake Wylie, SC. She was surrounded by her family and covered with prayers at the time of her death.
Margaret was born on December 7, 1915, in Richmond, VA to the late Louise and Edward Kersh. Following her schooling in Tuscaloosa, AL and New York City, she worked as a professional model in New York City. Subsequently, she met her future husband, West Point graduate William B. Tuttle, Jr., and they married on December 6, 1944. Thus began her 30 year journey as an active and devoted Army wife. Margaret accompanied her husband on his tours throughout the United States and also post-World War II Germany. Most importantly, she kept the home fires burning during his combat participation in three wars. In addition, she served as head of the Special Forces Mission Wives Club, where she comforted grieving families of MIA, POW and KIA Special Forces servicemen. She was a member of Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in York, SC.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 61 years, Retired Col. William B. Tuttle, Jr. of Lake Wylie, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Nicholas H. Tuttle and Kelley Tuttle of Rock Hill, SC; her daughter and son-in-law, Louisa T. Patterson and Robert Patterson of Hickory, NC; brother, Earle Kersh and wife, Adelaide, of Brevard, NC; grandchildren, Caroline, Graham and Emma Tuttle of Rock Hill, SC, and Lauren and Alec Patterson of Hickory, NC; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sallie Cooper, and her brother, Edward Kersh.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to caregivers Coreen Carnes, Mary Williams, and LaRue Shuford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial and Tributes Processing Center, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
A visitation will be held at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732, on Saturday, February 18, 2006 from 4-6 PM.
A graveside service and interment will be held at a later date in April 2006 at Arlington National Cemetery.
