Martin Milner Obituary

Martin Hugh Milner
March 22, 1962 - September 30, 2022
Beaufort, South Carolina - Martin Hugh Milner, 60, passed away on September 30, 2022, after a seven-months battle with pancreatic cancer. Martin was born in Atlanta, GA to Frances Marian Holley and Mays Clinton McElhanon, and his mother later remarried Edward Willis Milner who adopted Martin and his brother, and they resided in Charlotte.
Martin graduated from Myers Park High School in 1980, and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy for four years aboard the USS Enterprise and USS Carl Vinson. Following his military service, Martin earned a B.S. in International Business from UNC Charlotte and his career spanned the private and public service sectors until his death. In 1989 Martin married Lynne Fortson. Martin's public sector service began in 2003 with the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Information Resource Management. Martin and Lynne proceeded to raise their family across multiple U.S. states and foreign countries. The term stranger was foreign to Martin as he always kept an open door for old and new friends. He was a fabulous cook and could entertain his many friends and neighbors with feasts fit for royalty. He will be dearly missed by his family and the friends he made across the globe.
Martin is survived by his wife Lynne, daughter Mary Closs Milner, son Martin Lane Milner, and brothers Clint Milner (Toni), Edward Milner Jr., and Chris Milner (Kinné). The family is planning a private memorial, and in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the North Carolina Fisheries Association (NCFA) or a charity of your choice.

To a wonderful colleague. I will forever remember how fun it was to work with you in Brussels and the laughs we shared with our friends and co-workers. I know you are at peace now with our Heavenly Father and Jesus.

I fondly remember our time together in Frankfurt Germany. Martin´s quick wit and sense of humor helped to make him the gentle giant he was. I could not have asked for a better co-worker.
