Michael "Mike" Steven Hutchinson, 55, of Huntersville, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, peacefully at Levine-Dickson Hospice House with his family and friends by his side after a long hard battle with testicular cancer. He was born in Pontiac, MI, on March 10, 1968, to Steven Michael and Laural Lee McCurdy Hutchinson.
He attended UNC-Wilmington and University of Northern Colorado and graduated from UNC-Charlotte with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. After graduation he ventured out on his own and opened Modern Audio Video which led him to merge his company with New Home Systems. In 2014, he switched gears and started working for SMC USA as an account manager, so he could spend more time with his family. On June 12, 2004, he married the love of his life in Mooresville, NC and they just celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary the week prior to his death. He was very involved with his son's sports and the highlight of his weekends during basketball season was going to their games with his dad. Prior to his illness he enjoyed his annual golf trips with his Huntingtowne Farms crew and getting together with friends and family. He fought hard throughout his illness, never complained during the fight and went out on his own terms. Michael was a wonderful son, husband, father and brother. We will all miss him, but we will see him again in heaven. He had a lot of wonderful friends and they are all extremely special to our family.
In addition to his parents, Steve and Laural Hutchinson of Sherrills Ford, NC, he is survived by his wife, Sybyl Villard Hutchinson; sons, Tyson Hunter and Mason Alexander Hutchinson all of Huntersville, NC; brother, Brady Scott Hutchinson of Sherrills Ford, NC; mother-in-law, Valerie Villard of Falls Church, VA and step-mother-in-law, Dian Villard of Mooresville, NC.
He was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents, several uncles and aunts and his father-in-law.
The family would like to thank Dr. William Mitchell and his entire staff at Southern Oncology Specialists, Davita – Huntersville and Levine-Dickson Hospice House for all of their compassion and care for Michael during his fight.
The family will be receiving friends from 1 – 3 PM on Sunday, July 9, 2023, followed by a Time of Reflection at 3 PM, in the Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.
