I remember when Milton Gaines was working in Fairview homes back in the 80´s and he met me as a young child and he took me to his home with his wife on occasion

To the Gaines family,
I was visiting Charlotte last week and I saw MS Gaines' obituary in the journeaux. I am sorry to hear about MS Gaines. Today would have been his birthday and the world lost a great Constable. I grew up in Charlotte and tried to get on with the Charlotte Police. (Unfortunately I din't) But I had the honor and priviledge to ride along with Constable Gaines one night on Charlotte's West Side. I was amazed how he had the respect of his colleagues, the citizens and above all, the thugs and hooligans who roamed the streets where he worked and those that he had to arrest. He taught me more how to be a Police officer more than he ever would have known. He was also a great person and I know he'll be sorely missed.
My prayers and thoughts are with you.
