Mrs. Bates was my wonderful fourth-grade teacher at Oaklawn Elementary. I think of her often, as not only was she a fantastic teacher, but she helped guide me through a particularly difficult time in my life. I will always remember her.

I didn't get the chance to say thank you Miriam for always making me feel special. Even though you had a full life, whenever I spoke to you or was in your presence I felt encouraged, uplifted and inspired. You were truly a blessing to my stepmom, Helen and to my dad and sister and to everyone you touched. A legacy like yours will never die. I hope to see you in heaven. Love, Sharon
