Miriam Clark Obituary

Miriam Farr Clark
'Teeny'
Teeny Clark, 82, of Charlotte, passed away June 11, 2007 after an extended illness. Born in Charlotte on January 16, 1925, she was the youngest daughter of the late William A. and Mattie D. Farr.
Mrs. Clark graduated from Harding High School in 1944 and was a charter member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Charlotte. Growing up in a musically talented family, Teeny was also known as a fine singer. Early on, she sang with Billy Knauff's orchestra in Charlotte until her brother Jimmy Farr formed his own dance band in Columbia, SC where over a long career, she performed for numerous dignitaries including state governors and a former president. Teeny capped off her singing career in 2000 by recording a CD with long time friend Loonis McGlohon.
Although singing was her passion, it took a backseat to loving and caring for her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Robert F. Clark, her four children, son Bob Clark and wife Lauren, daughter Nancy Sellers and husband Robert, son Bill Clark all of Charlotte and daughter Lynn Frost and husband Bob of Pittsburgh, PA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Graham and Meredith Clark of Charlotte, Ashley Sellers Grant of Valle Crucis, NC and Michael Bilz of Pittsburgh as well as many nephews and nieces. Her surviving sisters are Mrs. Sarah Burton of Columbia, SC and Mrs. Nancy Smith of Aurora, CO.
The family wishes to thank the following for their kindness and wonderful care--The ladies at Presbyterian Hospital's Outpatient Oncology Unit, Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care, Dr. James Boyd and his staff in Charlotte and Dr. Baynard Powell and staff at Wake Forest University Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11am, Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 6800 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270 with interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park & Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Tuesday evening, June 12, 2007 at Harry & Bryant Company, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care, PO Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233 or St. Stephen United Methodist Church.

Dear Bob and Family,
So sorry to hear about your mom Bob, I know she will be missed by all. I read her obit on line and she had a wonderful life, what great things she accomplished, you should be proud. I remember something that someone said to me when my dad passed on, "Love lives on forever in our hearts" and it's so true. Again you have our sympathy.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Teeny's family. I had the pleasure of meeting her at Mix 106.1 when she visted with Loonis McGlohon. She was truly a special lady!
