Nathan Pope Obituary

Nathan Lee Pope
BELMONT -- Nathan, 17, died Monday, April 17 at Shands Hospital, Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Charlotte, NC, a son of Jeffrey Lee and Kellie Miller Pope.
Funeral service is 6:30 PM Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Parkwood Baptist Church, with Reverend Ray Hardee officiating. Interment is private. The family will receive friends following the service, from 7:00-9:00 PM.
Nathan was a student at South Point High School, where he was a huge South Point Red Raider fan, and loved Duke Blue Devils Basketball. He was a member of Forest Pointe Church. Nathan loved life, family, friends, his country and his two best friends, his miniature dachshunds, 'Gus' and 'Cedric'. Nathan also loved music of all kinds.
Survivors include his parents, Jeff and Kellie Pope; sister, Madison Pope; paternal grandparents, George and Sue Pope of Charlotte; uncle, Robbie Pope of Charlotte; aunts, Tammy and her husband, Doug Oakley, of GA, Melanie and her husband, Robert James, of Belmont; great grandmother, Jessie Pope of Charlotte; and cousins, Adam Oakley, Jacob Oakley, Lydia Oakley, of GA, and Lyndsi James and Logan James of Belmont . Nathan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, E.C. and Ann Miller.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to go to Muscular Dystrophy Assoc., 5950 Fairview Rd., Suite 320, Charlotte, NC 28210.
McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia is serving Nathan's family.

I often think of you guys and have such fond memories of Nate. In just the short time I was with MDA, you guys made such an impact on my life. im really sorry to hear about nathan i've been soo upset about this sense i've heard about it...i went to elementary and middle school and high school with him he was a great person and he was soo much fun to be around even havin classes with him was fun im going to miss him dearly and its going to be hard at school cause im soo used to seein him everyday and im going to continue to pray for yall and he is now in a better place and im really going to miss him sooo much!!!
