A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 10:15 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6828 Old Reid Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. A reception and luncheon will be held at the church activity center followed by burial at Crown Memorial Park.
Paul grew up in Monroe, Michigan, where he attended Monroe Catholic Central High School and enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. He went on to attend the University of Michigan and graduated from Adrian College with a bachelor's degree in chemistry while playing varsity baseball. Paul met Diane, the love of his life, in a Toledo bar, and together they built a beautiful life and family.
He began his career as a chemist at Service Combustion in Toledo, Ohio before embarking on a 30-year career with Owens Corning Fiberglas and related company Performance Contracting. Paul also continued his education and earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Toledo. Paul served in various finance roles which led the family to Brighton, Michigan, and eventually to Charlotte, NC in 1985, until his retirement in 2000.
Family was at the heart of Paul's life. He poured himself into raising his children, coaching their basketball, baseball, and softball teams, participating and leading their scout groups, and cheering them on through all of life's milestones. He treasured every moment spent watching his children and grandchildren in their activities and spent many joyful years babysitting his grandchildren. He was a loyal man full of love, life, and perseverance.
Paul also had a deep commitment to his faith and community. He served as treasurer of the St. Vincent senior group for 18 years, as financial secretary of the St. Vincent Knights of Columbus Council 9560 for 21 years, and gave his time to local schools, teaching children to read. His generosity and compassion left an enduring mark on all who knew him.
In his free time, Paul enjoyed fishing, gardening, family camping trips, and crafting handmade wooden Christmas ornaments that became treasured family keepsakes. He was, of course, a devoted fan of the Michigan Wolverines and all teams Detroit (Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, Pistons).
Although Paul's physical presence may no longer be with us, his spirit will continue to guide, inspire, and live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May his memory be a blessing, and may his light forever shine brightly in Heaven and in our lives.
