Randall Boone Obituary

Randall Horace Boone

March 31, 1949 - July 31, 2024

Charlotte, North Carolina - Randall Horace Boone passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 31st, 2024 at the age of 75. He was born in Cornelius, NC in 1949 to his late parents Joe and Nancy Boone. He is survived by his wife Patra Gerber, son James Courtney Gleeson, and sister Kathy. He also leaves behind two beautiful grandchildren, Liam and Avery Gleeson and daughter in-law Ashley Gleeson.

Randy attended Hargrave Military Academy and then later Country Day School where he played right tackle and wore a fearsome 72 on his chest. He was an MVP and co-captain of the varsity baseball team and later taught his son how to play third base. After graduating from Furman University, Randy decided there was no better city in which to live and work than Charlotte, NC and so spent the remainder of his 75 years raising a family and battling the local real estate market. He had an undying love for his wife Patra and a passion for great food as long as the sauce was on the side. Randy loved a good pastry. He also loved sharing them with others as though presenting them with a sacred gift! He loved fast cars from Germany and treasured a particular kelly green antique Porsche that provided endless memories and stories for those fortunate enough to ride with him.

Randy's son, Courtney, was at the center of his heart. He was so incredibly proud of him, and would talk about his accomplishments every available opportunity. His love for his son was boundless. Randy made many friends over the years and he was particularly close to Tom Coppage and Quay Williford. Randy and Quay's bond was especially strong and persevered through many ups and downs like that of two brothers.

Randy was kind, thoughtful, humorous and loving as well as a true gentleman. He enjoyed beautiful clothing and relished being able to dress up in a suit and tie. All who knew Randy will remember his beautiful white hair of which he always received many compliments.

Dear Randy Boone, to those of us you left behind, you will always be deeply loved and deeply missed; a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. You will have a place in all our hearts forever. We will meet you sometime in the future and look forward to embracing you once again.
