Randy Hailey Obituary

Randy Hailey, 62, of Charlotte, passed away February 10, 2003 at his residence. He was born on November 7, 1940 in Matthews, a son of the late Joe Reid and Rachel Haigler Hailey. Randy was a member of Mint Hill Masonic Lodge #742 AF & AM, Scottish Rite and Omar Shrine of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He retired as a pipefitter in 1994 and drove a tractor-trailer for T.G. Stegall Trucking Company up until 2000. Randy enjoyed camping and fishing. He was a member of Carolina Jaybirds Camping Club and Hopewell Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Ruby Wilson Hailey of 38 years; 2 children, Rhonda Plafcan and husband Bill of Matthews, Andy Hailey of Indian Trail; and two granddaughters, Allison and Alysia Plafcan.
Besides his parents, Randy was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Hailey.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, Matthews, with The Reverend Lee Pigg officiating, with a Masonic Service to follow. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7 - 9 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. William Mitchell and staff, especially Sarah and Jennifer, and Hospice at Charlotte, especially Sherry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mint Hill Masonic Lodge #742, PO Box 691742, Charlotte, NC 28227-7030 or to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204 or Shriners Hospital for Crippled and Burned Children, C/O Oasis Temple of the Shrine, 604 Daniel Burham Way, Charlotte, NC 28213 or to Hopewell Baptist Church, 420 Hopewell Church Rd, Monroe, NC 28110.
