Mr. Gallagher was a simple, honest, loving, hard-working husband, soldier and man of God born August 4, 1929, and died Friday, March 13, 2009. A veteran, he honorably served our country as a Merchant Marine during the Korean War. A loyal husband, he remained faithful and dedicated to his one and only bride of 55 years, Margaret Gallagher, who survives him. A father, he loved Bruce and Bob Clarke as his own. A grandfather, he loved Bobby Clarke, Jim Clarke, Susan Staley and Kathy Silverglate as his own. He raised Susan and Kathy like daughters after Bruce died and stood in the gap as a father to them. A great grandfather to Jordan, Ryan, Erin, Morgan and Cameron, he leaves a legacy of faith. A selfless provider, he worked as a professional surveyor in NJ and then in Jasper, Ga. as VP at Big Canoe Corp. A sold-out disciple of Jesus Christ, Richard was a founding member of The Chapel in Jasper, Ga. and was instrumental in sharing the truth of Jesus Christ with hundreds of men, women and youth during his life.
