Charlotte, North Carolina - Richard "Jeep" McQuay passed away on November 11th, Veterans Day, fitting for a man that was drafted twice. A man of deep faith, he always wore a smile and had a kind heart. His laugh would fill the room. Jeep was married to Marian for 46 years and now joins her in heaven. Together they ran Jeep's Superette, a grocery store in the Thomasboro neighborhood. The store had a meat counter (with sawdust floor) and was a gathering spot for young and old who came to "trade" there. After retirement, he and Marian enjoyed traveling and eating out. Jeep was very active at Thomasboro Baptist and Holly Hunter Baptist Church. Sharing "the love of the Lord", he enjoyed his final years relaxing, smiling, singing and laughing as only he could.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Memories may be shared at www.forestlawnwest.com.
