December 27, 1945 - September 27, 2022
Matthews, North Carolina - Richard (Dick) Silverman passed away unexpectedly at his home on the morning of September 27, 2022. He worked most of his life as a chemical engineer and patent agent. He was active in his synagogues in the Chicago and Charlotte areas, and in his spare time he created beautiful jewelry. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed all kinds of science fiction and music.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Janis, his sister Carol Silverman, his nephew Milo Silverman, his two children Mara (Russ) Cobe, and Yadi Alamin, his three grandchildren, Jacob Oller, Yeshi Alamin and Alauna Harris.
There will be a graveside service on Thursday, September 29th at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Weddington at 1pm. For those not available to join the graveside in person, or to view at a later time, please visit https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/8441461095.
The family will host an online Shiva via Zoom on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 2-3:30pm. For more details about the online shiva or joining the funeral online, please contact [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Temple Solel in Fort Mill, SC (https://templesolelsc.org/) or the Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research (https://drsusanloveresearch.org/).
