Charlotte, North Carolina - Richard Dotson White passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025. He was born in Charlotte on January 27, 1932, to the late Hannah Dotson White and Earl Caldwell White.
Richard was educated in the Charlotte Public Schools and graduated from Charlotte Central High School with the class of 1950. He went on to graduate from Presbyterian College with a degree in Business Administration. After graduation, he served in the United States Army for two years, mostly in Germany.
Richard had several careers two of which were in real estate and insurance. He was an avid traveler, both in the United States and abroad. His favorite country was New Zealand where he enjoyed cross-country skiing well into his late seventies. He was a devoted uncle to his eight nieces and nephews.
Surviving Richard are his sister, Shirley White Benfield (Dr. Robert); nieces, Glynn Strabel (Ed), Cynthia Cameron (Willie), Ann Warren (Joe), and Laura Thompson (Bill); nephews, Brent White (Pat), Alan White (Jennifer), Robert Benfield, Jr., and James Benfield (Beth). He was predeceased by his brother, Earl Caldwell White, Jr.
A private service will be held to honor and celebrate the life of Richard.
