Roger Hard Obituary

Roger Allen Hard CHARLOTTE - Roger Allen Hard, son of the late Chester A. Hard and late Anita P. Hard, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, peacefully at his home after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Kathi Kincheloe Hard; his daughter, Kristin Clemons; sons, Patrick and Brandon Hard; his brothers, Chester and Lawrence Hard; his sister, Sue Meyer and five granddaughters. Roger is joined in heaven by his daughter Chelsea Hard and brother Chris Hard, who passed away years prior. In his early years, Mr. Hard grew up in Franklin Village, Michigan and went on to study at the University of Michigan to complete his MBA in International Finance. After serving in the Army, Roger spent time in the Bahamas developing a private stone quarry and later in Bolivia working on low income housing developments. He was introduced to North Carolina when he was hired at as President of Beech Mountain. A few years later he was hired as President of Sugar Mountain where he met and married his wife, Kathi Kincheloe. Roger completed development of Carolina Shores; worked with Bank of America, Canal Industries, among others. Roger volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America and was an avid swimmer, medaling in the Senior Olympics locally, statewide, and nationally. He loved the great outdoors and spent time with his family and friends camping, hiking, skiing, and kayaking. With a handshake that always left an impression, and a style like no other, he was always a joy to be around and will be missed by his family and many friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 13, at 3pm at 4025 High Ridge Road in Charlotte. Memorial gifts may be made to Holy Cross Episcopal Church, PO Box 645, Valle Crucis, NC 28691; Myers Park Presbyterian Church Outreach, Charlotte, NC or Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte. The family would like to send a special thank you to his caregivers that supported us during this journey.

I hit send before identifying myself just now referencing hours spent walking the soccer fields and going skiing together when Chelsea was close to the end of her ordeal . My family all extends condolences. - Max Foster

I hope that the peace of our Lord will envelope you all during this time . Last time I saw Roger was about 5 years ago he came over to meet Street and me at Grandfather for a cup of coffee. Many delightful hours walking soccer fields together . Blessings to all.
