Roger Mahaffey Obituary

Roger Dale Mahaffey
HOLDEN BEACH -- Mr. Mahaffey, 59, of Holden Beach, died Tuesday, September 6, 2011, in New Hanover Regional Hospital in Wilmington, N.C. He was born January 23, 1952, in Charlotte, N.C, son of the late Eugene Wellington Mahaffey and Helen Douglas Mahaffey. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Pamela Nelson Mahaffey, his two daughters, Sabrina Leigh Szymendera and her husband Robert, and Dusty Lynn Overlin, and her husband Michael, his two brothers, Larry Eugene Mahaffey, and Robert Keith Mahaffey, and his two grandsons, Brandon Overlin, and Dylan Overlin and one granddaughter, Madison Widener.
A celebration of life service is set for Friday, September 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Holden Beach Chapel 107 Rothschild St., Holden Beach, N.C. Followed by a reception at their home 2680 Jessica Lane SW, Supply, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Holden Beach Chapel or donations to www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
Good-Bye to a true Red Drum Fisherman and a Jimmy Buffet fan!

I will miss you Dale...we shared some good times and hard times and many many great conversations...thank you for always allowing me to be myself. Pam, I will see you in a couple of weeks. Sabrina, Dusty, Michael, Brandon, Dylan, and Madison; Dale loved you all very much and was so proud of you all. I know you are going to miss him so much. I was so saddened to hear about the passing of Dale. He is in a better place now. No more suffering. You will see him again one day. Pam, Sabrina and Dusty,

I know your pain and heartache and I'm so sorry to hear of Dale's passing. I remember, in particular, how very heartbroken he was when momma passed. I can see and almost hear them laughing together again now.

Pam, I am so sorry for your loss. Dale and I were friends since 4th grade. It was so good to visit with him through our Harding High School Class of 1970 Website. He will always have a special place in my heart. Blessings to you as you remember the precious times you had together for so many years. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
