Sara Inez Byrum
(1922 - 2012)
CONCORD -- Sara Inez Mauney Byrum, 89, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at home after a brief illness. A native of Cleveland County she was the daughter of the late William White Mauney and Nellie Bechtler Mauney. She graduated from Gardner Webb University and was a retired self-employed accountant, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Byrum was preceded in death by her husband David E Byrum and seven siblings.
Mrs. Byrum is survived by her sister, Marie Edwards of Lawndale; son, Charles Steven Mauney and wife Margaret L. Mauney; grandsons, Hayden Mauney, David Mauney and wife Melinda Mauney; four great-grandchildren, Roan L. Mauney, Paula Lee Mauney, Hayden James Mauney and Paisley Harper Mauney.
To honor the life of Sara Inez Byrum the family will welcome friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Mrs. Byrum's home in Concord. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, 3800 Polkville Road, Shelby. The Rev. James Patrick Mauney of Sagmore Beach, MA, the nephew of Mrs. Byrum will be officiating. Immediately following the service the family will gather at the home of Shirley Mauney in Shelby.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 705 Griffith Street - Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036, or online at donatehospice.org.
Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family of Mrs. Byrum.

I am going to miss her so much!!!!! I have been thinking of all the times I went to see her and pawpaw Dave. I have so many memories of her and I will never forget her!!!!!!
