Sharon Lanier Obituary

Sharon Busby Lanier

July 10, 1964 - April 8, 2025

Charlotte , NC, North Carolina - Sharon Busby Lanier, 60, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025 at Novant Hospice in Charlotte. Born on July 10, 1964, she came into this world with her twin sister and best friend, Karen. They were the daughters of Reggie Busby and the late Nancy Long Busby.

Sharon was originally from Charlotte, NC, but her family moved to Tampa, FL, in 1980. She graduated from Leto High School in Tampa, Florida in 1984. Immediately after high school, Sharon began her lifelong work in the veterinary field, beginning with Pet Grooming School, which started her career. She was a veterinary assistant in Tampa until moving back to Charlotte in 1989 where she continued her career in the animal field and also became a registered medical assistant.

Sharon's most recent work was with Matthews Animal Clinic, where she had been since 2021, and due to the family-like atmosphere, she truly loved her job, teammates, and clients. Sharon also recently worked at Greenock Farms and Hickory Grove Animal Hospital. She loved animals and dedicated her life to caring for them as if they were hers.

Sharon was an animal lover through and through, having many personal pets over her lifetime. Sharon especially loved dogs, including her beloved pugs and poodles, Sally, Layla and George. Sharon's love for animals also included a cat, red-eyed conure bird, pigmy goat, turtle, horse, ferret, and many fish, and chickens. She also loved the beach, fishing, dancing, live music and concerts, watching the Florida Gators, attending Carolina Panthers games, and helping others whenever possible.

She is survived by her husband, Pat; her daughter, Kelli Dunn; step-son Drew Lanier (Kristen); grandchildren Kemari, Karter, Halle, and Alayna; father, Reggie Busby, Sr.; sisters, Debra Clapham (Mark) and Karen Crosby (Scott); brother, Reggie Busby, Jr (known as Buzzy); nieces, Randi Clapham, Kalli Beall, and Erin Crosby; and nephews Trevor Crosby and Matthew Clapham; along with several great nieces and nephews, and cousins; and the Dunn family - from her first marriage to Jimmy Dunn - who were always supportive of her, and loved her like their own. Sharon's family was her prized possession; they all loved her, and her favorite thing was spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were the absolute love of her life, and her love for them was immeasurable.

The funeral service is at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Sharon's church home - Providence Baptist Church, located at 5315 Highway 49 South, Harrisburg, NC 28075. Visitation is going to be after the service.

The family would like to express their gratitude and give special thanks to the staff at Novant Hospice in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte, www.humanesocietyofcharlotte.org.
