Shirley Mae McKechnie
Mrs. McKechnie, 91, of Stallings died at home June 23, 2004. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, at Historic Matthews Cemetery with her grandson Reverend Joe McKechnie officiating.
Mrs. McKechnie was born November 11, 1912 in Union Co. NC to the late Pee Dee Drye and Margaret P. Hall. Mrs. McKechnie enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orill McKechnie, son, William McKechnie, grandson, Kevin McKechnie, sisters, Leith Stinson and Dee Stinson.
Her survivors include, sons, Robert McKechnie and wife Bonnie, Paul McKechnie and wife Judy; daughter-in-law, Kerrith McKechnie; sisters, Rae Phillips, Irma Heaton, Arlene Surratt, Dorothy Paxton, Joyce Rogers, and Peggy Surratt; brother, Phillip Drye; grandchildren, Mike McKechnie, Mary McKechnie Harless and husband Mike, Peter McKechnie and wife Tara, Mark McKechnie, Joseph McKechnie, Jill McKechnie, Kerrith McKechnie Del'Aguila and husband Ralph, Karen McKechnie McClure and husband Steve; great-grandchildren, Peter Del'Aguila, Paul Del'Aguila, Kayla Del'Aguila, Andrew Tittle, Brandon McKechnie, Will McKechnie, Peter McKechnie, and Luke McKechnie.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd. Monroe, NC 28110, Stallings United Methodist Church 1115 Stallings Rd. Stallings, NC 28104, and Arbor Pointe Methodist Church, 285 Meadowcreek Dr., Jefferson, GA 30549.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service, Indian Trail/Matthews.
