Simba Williams Obituary

Simba Williams
December 17, 2004 - January 2, 2022
Lake Wylie, South Carolina - "Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened." - Anatole France
Simba Achilles Williams passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on December 17, 2004 in St. Pauls, NC and adopted on Saint Valentine's Day, February 14, 2005 from the Robeson County Animal Center. Simba was the son of Terence and Jether Williams and older brother to Gabriel Williams.
He is survived by his grandparents Shawn and Patricia Williams of Charlotte, NC. Grandfather Jerome James, aunt Jesimiel Garcia, cousins Anabelle Garcia, Anibal Garcia, and Antonio Heyliger of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands and aunt Jo-Hannah James of Philadelphia, PA. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Maggie Lawrence James of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Simba was extremely intelligent and all who knew him remarked on his big personality. From his early days on the campus of UNC-Pembroke where he enjoyed exploring the outdoors, playing chase, tug-of-war, and wrestling with his dad, he was well known and adored in many social circles.
In 2007, he made Charlotte his home and welcomed his baby brother Gabriel to the family. He was cautiously excited to be a big brother constantly keeping watch over Gabe. As time passed, they grew closer and loved each other immensely. Simba possessed a strong will and embarked on many adventures at times to the dismay of his parents.
His all time favorite past time was traveling and he especially loved his time on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands where he lived for a year and a half. He also enjoyed visits to Wrightsville Beach, Kure Beach, Houston, TX, New Orleans, and Myrtle Beach.
Simba's love was the best kind of love. He was fervent in his care of his family and loved to dote on them as much as they loved doting on him. He especially loved kisses from his mom and treats from his grandmother Patricia who affectionately nicknamed him "Snooks". For 17 years his family cherished him and shared a love with him that taught them patience and kindness. That love will carry them on.

Dogs are incredible gifts to us and Simba was special, indeed. What a wonderful family he had and it is obvious he was very, very loved. While Simba can never be replaced, I have found the best way to honor a lost pet is to open your home and heart to another....When the time is right, of course. It leads to healing and making more beautiful memories with another loyal, loving, deserving furry friend. Sending my best to each of you.

I send my condolences to your family. I understand the love you share for your Simba. This was truly a jewel to read. I myself was a student at UNCP during this time and faintly remember a dog fitting that description but if course I can't be certain. Cherish the memories but Simba is still with your family watching over you.

You were so lucky to have him for 17 years which probably means you took the greatest care of him. I too know the pain your family feels and I, so very sorry. I wasn´t lucky enough to have children so my fur babies were my kids. Your tribute was very nice; keep his memories close and before too long, thoughts of him will start to bring smiles instead of tears.

What can I say... never seen an obit for a fur baby but I think it is grand, it seems he was well loved and well traveled, as one who loves her fur baby and has experienced the loss of a few I send prayers and condolences ....
