Sylvia Ruth Kiser Hooper CHARLOTTE - Sylvia Ruth Kiser Hooper, 78, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014. She was born in Mecklenburg County on Nov. 1, 1935, daughter of the late John Houston and Ruth Ann Hunneycutt Kiser. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Donald and John, Jr. Sylvia was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, member of Rolling Hills Country Club, where she played golf and bridge. She enjoyed cruises, living in and traveling in Europe. She is survived by her husband, Bill; a sister, Pat Howard; brothers, Charles and Ronnie Kiser and spouses; nieces and nephews; step-sons, Allen, Glenn, Duane and spouses; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 1, 2014, from 12:00 - 12:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel.
