Thomas Herbert Godfrey, III "Tripp" WEST COLUMBIA - Thomas Herbert "Tripp" Godfrey, III, 53, of West Columbia, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013. He was born in Charlotte, NC, on November 10, 1959, at Charlotte Memorial Hospital (Carolinas Medical Center). He did his Confirmation at Big Spring United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC. Tripp was very involved with His House Ministries for the past 15 years, enjoyed reading, fishing, and was a history buff. He loved sports and was a big Clemson fan. Survivors include his parents, Thomas H. Godfrey, Jr., and Anne Marie Fitzgerald Godfrey of Lincolnton, NC; mother, Glenda Lewis G. Garrett of Seneca, SC; brother, Eric (Linda) Godfrey of Atlanta, GA, John (Becky) Godfrey of Lincolnton, Joe (Julie) Godfrey of Greensboro, Mack (Tina) Godfrey of Stokesdale, and Sean Grant of Seneca, SC; aunt, Donna Godfrey Seeley (Ed) of Weddington, and two first cousins, Eddie IV (Jenna) of Indian Trail, and Shawn of Arizona; as well as nine nieces and nephews and two great-nephews. He was preceded in death by grandmother Robbie King Godfrey Whisnant (Murphy E. Whisnant, Jr., living) of Charlotte, NC, grandfather Thomas H. Godfrey, Sr.; and maternal grandparents Ralph and Lillian Lewis. The Funeral Service for Mr. Godfrey will be held at 1 o'clock, Sunday, September 29th at the Meeting Street Chapel, 775 Meeting Street, West Columbia, with Rev. Roger Weaver officiating. A graveside service will follow at 4:30 o'clock, at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery, 6230 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC, with Rev. David Carl officiating. The Family will greet friends following the burial service. Warlick Funeral Home is assisting the family in North Carolina.
