Thomas Wayne Russell, Sr.
'Tom'
DURHAM -- Mr. Russell, 67, a resident of 1522 Sedwick Rd., died Saturday night at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Russell was born in Stanly County, NC, the son of the late Blevin Thomas and Hazel Springer Russell. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and retired from the Air Force as a Personnel Specialist. Mr. Russell was employed as a Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Four Star Realty, was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church, and formerly attended Braggtown Baptist Church and Cressett Baptist Church.
Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Jacqueline 'Jackie' McSwain Russell; a daughter, Melissa Ann Russell Supples and husband Mike of Durham; two sons, Thomas 'Rusty' Wayne Russell, Jr. and wife Juanita of Huntersville, NC and Mark Alan Russell and wife Lisa of Durham; two brothers, Barry D. Russell and wife Shirley of Lyman, SC and Billy W. Russell and wife Jane of Edgewood, MD; a sister, Carol Russell Miller and husband Ronald of Charlotte, NC; nine grandchildren, Michael William Supples, Matthew Thomas Supples, Kaila Nicole Russell, Abigail Grace Russell, Crissy Supples, Liz Supples, Justin Clay, Michelle Wilson and husband Joey, and Chris Beeker. Mr. Russell is also survived by many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Mr. Russell was preceded in death by a brother, Larry L. Russell.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Clements Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tim Williford officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Lowes Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.
