Victor Moya-Mendez Obituary

Dr. Victor Manuel Moya-Mendez "Papi" CHARLOTTE - Dr. Victor "Papi" Manuel Moya-Mendez, 97, of Charlotte, NC and Lima, Peru, peacefully passed at his home in Lima November 12, 2016. Born September 13, 1919, in Otuzco, Peru, one of 14 children of Luis and Victoria Moya-Mendez. He is survived by his wife Ruth Jeanette Kinard Moya-Mendez. He is remembered and honored by his four sisters and two brothers, children Victor, Robert, John, George, Jenny, Walter, Gary, David, 22 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. He was a teacher, professor (Grove City College and Penn State University), reporter, translator, writer, Director of Education for the Peruvian government, and the founder, owner, and principal of the Colegio Benjamin Franklin in Lima.

Trabajé con él en el colegio Benjamín Franklin de Jesús María Lima, tuve la dicha de haberlo conocido y aprendido de él, de haber podido escucharlo tocar su mandolina, leer sus libros y conversar muchas horas sobre todo y nada, sobre todo me inspiró a ser mejor maestra. I always remember Mr. Moya-Mendez and speak fondly of him at different times in my life. He was my wonderful Spanish teacher at Eastway and Garinger. So very nice, What a wonderful full life he had. May God bless his family and lift them up at this time. Rest in Peace!
