September 18, 1939 - November 13, 2024
Charlotte, North Carolina - Walter Elmore, 85, died November 13, 2024 at Presbyterian Hospital. He was born in Charlotte at Mercy Hospital on September 18, 1939 to parents Walter and Esther Elmore. He graduated from Central High School and the University of South Carolina. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Walter had a long career in athletic team sports sales. He loved his family, friends, Covenant Presbyterian Church, fishing, World War II history, great food and his USC Gamecocks. Walter was a devoted family man who was full of life, could tell a great story and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Maria Elmore, his son Christian Elmore, daughter Stuart Elmore Murray, son-in-law Chris Murray, granddaughter Kyle Murray, grandson George Murray and his sister Sally Burton.
A celebration of Walter's life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 2pm at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 East Morehead Street in Charlotte followed by reception. ln lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church or Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

We had many laughs and good times @ Bocock -Stroud in Charlotte, Walter was a wonderful person , father and friend, I spent many hours with Walter and his family prior to moving to Winston -Salem then Houston,

I'm so sorry to hear this. My thoughts are wit you. I worked with Walter at T&T and he was my friend. I will miss our phone chats we have been having since he retired and he always made me smile from his stories, he always had a story for me. I will miss him.

I also called on T & T Sports and Walter. He was always a professional, funny,
and a great guy. We went to lunch several times with the other T & T salesmen,
and always had a lotof laughs at lunch. I remember that Walter saved me a parking place at T & T Sports on game day several years ago. He could have made $50 for the parking slot, and he gave saved it for me at no charge. I can still hear his voice. He will be missed by many.
