William Lowe Obituary

William Franklin (Frank) Lowe, a beloved husband, father and friend passed away on May 16, 2018 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster, Charlotte NC.

Frank was born in Jackson, Mississippi on January 30, 1950, to the late William Lee Lowe and Francis Shows Lowe, but grew up in Laurens SC. Frank was married for 35 years to Robin Whisenant Lowe of Arab, Alabama. Frank is survived by two children whom he loved dearly - Hannah King (Bailey) and Ross Lowe (Lauren). Sadly he was not able to meet his two grandchildren who are scheduled to be born three days apart at the end of this month.

He is also survived by 2 sisters - Linda Lewis (David) of Simpsonville, SC and Cheryl Shropshire of D'Iberville, MS - a beloved niece Sherri Reifenheiser (Rich) and five nephews Rob Lewis (Nancy), Eric Lewis, of Simpsonville, SC, James Shropshire (Sue) Aurora, Il., Grant Shropshire (Jennifer), Biloxi, MS, Craig Shropshire, Indian Land SC and a brother-in-law, Jim Whisenant, Birmingham, Al.

Frank graduated from Clemson University in 1973 and was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Following graduation Frank worked in Medical Sales, and was most recently a manufacturer's representative for Beverage Medical. He developed many life-long friends while at Clemson, and the family is grateful to them for reaching out to comfort him throughout his illness, and while at Hospice.

Clemson was a beloved place to Frank, and cheering on "The Clemson Tigers" was his favorite pastime. Frank never missed a football game and stayed up-to-the-minute on recruiting. Dabo, I hope you get the Defensive Back he's been dreaming about. His biggest challenge the last few years (especially during the college football playoffs) was dealing with two Alabama graduates, his wife and son. But he and Hannah (and best friends Stanley and Robin Riggins) always had that Tiger bond. He especially loved the beautiful sunsets over Lake Hartwell and tailgating each home game with friends who had parking passes next to each other for 35 years.

Frank was a member of Providence Baptist Church and attended and loved the Harmon Simpson Sunday School Class. He was a long-time member of Myers Park Country Club where he played golf as often as he was able to get on the course. Even though he would often say he would never live to make a hole in one, he actually achieved that goal three times - all after the age of 40!

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Southminster Hospice and the Doctors and nurses at Levine Cancer Institute who were so attentive and loving to him.

A memorial service will be held at Providence Baptist Church on Randolph Road May 18 at 2:30 pm. The family will receive visitors immediately following in the rotunda.

In lieu of Flowers donations may be made to Hospice at Southminster or the Kidney Foundation.
