William S. Moore, II
'Bill'
SPARTANBURG -- Mr. Moore, 59, of 111 Montgomery Drive, died March 26, 2005 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.
A native of Eden, NC, he was born April 19, 1945 to Virgilia Cole Moore and the late Joseph Daniel Moore. He was the retired former owner of Sally Foster Gift Wrap and former president of Industrial Coated Fabrics and Polyurethane Foam Group for Reeves Bros. Group, Inc. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was a former deacon.
He was a graduate of NC State and an AMP Business Graduate from Harvard University Graduate School of Business, trustee of Spartanburg Methodist College, in which a building was named for him (William S. Moore Mall), former Chairman of the Board of Spartanburg Methodist College, and director of Palmetto Bank of Laurens, SC. He was active in the Spartanburg Regional Hospital Foundation, and also contributed to Wofford College, in which a building was named for him (Bill Moore Plaza) and served on the President's Board. He received the Young Alumnus Award from NC State University and established the William S. Moore Scholarship. He was a major benefactor of the SC School for the Deaf and Blind and The Walker Foundation.
Surviving are two sons, William Stacey Moore, III and wife Carolyn Geigher Moore of Charlotte, NC and John Pendleton Moore of Spartanburg; two daughters, Elizabeth Cole Moore of Los Angeles, CA and Anne Brady Moore of Charlotte, NC; brother, Joseph Daniel Moore, Jr. of Greensboro, NC; two sisters, Sallie Moore Lowrance of Charlotte, NC and Virgilia Moore of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter, Anna Frances Moore of Charlotte, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A private entombment will be held Monday, March 28, 2005 in Greenlawn Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. Tom Herrington and Dr. George D. Fields, Jr. Visitation will be at the home following the memorial service at 111 Montgomery Drive, Spartanburg, SC.
Memorials may be made to SC School for the Deaf and Blind, The Walker Foundation, 355 Cedar Springs Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302; Spartanburg Methodist College, 1000 Powell Mill Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301; or William S. Moore Scholarship, NC State University Development Office, Box 7501, Raleigh, NC 27695.
