Coach Winston Thomas was an awesome coach and an outstanding man and person. He loved his job as teacher and coach and he was devoted to his students. My most fond memory of Coach Thomas was watching him dunk a basketball. During that time period(1965-1969) someone his size, 5’6”, it was unheard of anyone anywhere that size dunking a basketball. I truly admired Coach Thomas and I strive to be like him. I became an officer in the United States Army and a teacher and administrator in Richland County School District. A great deal of my success is owed to Coach Thomas.
