Zelda Gladden Obituary

Zelda Wilson Gladden 10/3/1918 - 12/7/2014 MINT HILL - Zelda Elizabeth Wilson Gladden passed into God's loving arms on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at her home in Charlotte, North Carolina, after a love-filled life of 96 years. Zelda was born on October 3, 1918 in Mecklenburg County to Mamie Cochrane Wilson and William Henry Wilson who both preceded her in death. She joins her husband, Lorenzo Holland Gladden and her son, Johnny Franklin Gladden who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were two infant grandchildren and three infant great-grandchildren. She leaves behind daughters, Joyce Keistler (Jack) from Charlotte, Nancy Hunt (Charles) from Monroe, NC, Carolyn Currence from Clover, SC, and sons, Ronald, from Midland, Bobby, Hubert, William (Joyce), all from Charlotte, and Junior (Karen) from Concord. She was affectionally known as "Maw Maw" to her 18 grandchildren; Donna, Roger, Billy, Tina, Darlene, Lisa, Kathy, Renee, Cindy, Jimmy, Brenda, Donnie, Tony, Robbie, Chad, Brian, Ronnie and Sheila, and as "Maw Maw G" to 31 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters; Ruby Simpson, Evelyn Hilton and Frances Goode and one brother, Edward Wilson. Siblings that preceded her in death were Harold Wilson, Nick Wilson, Junior Wilson, Buddy Wilson, Dot Turner, Margaret Penninger and Ruth Walters. Her devotion to Wilson Grove Baptist Church was evident in her dedication to "working" in the Sunday school nursery for 50+ years. Her love and kindness will be missed by those she leaves behind. But in God's loving arms, she is now joyous and free. The service to celebrate the life of Zelda will be held at Wilson Grove Baptist Church in Mint Hill on Wednesday, the 10th of December, 2014, at 11:00am with Rob Mariucci, Jimmy Currence and John Thompson officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be held at the church to begin at 10:00am prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens on Lawyers Road in Mint Hill. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Roger, Billy, Jimmy, Donnie, Tony, Robbie, Chad, Brian and Ronnie. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial contributions be made to Wilson Grove Baptist Church, 6624 Wilgrove-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte, NC 28227. To The Gladden Family,
Death leaves a heartache that only God almighty can heal, love leaves good memories that no one can steal.
"Moreover, may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and gave everlasting comfort and good hope by means of underserved kindness, comfort your hearts and make you firm in every good deed and word."
2 Thessalonians 2:16,17.
With Deepest Sympathy,
