Alex A. Sadowski

1930 - 2018

Alex A. Sadowski, 88, of Cheboygan, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Hospice House in Cheboygan. A resident of Cheboygan since 1993, moving from Eastpointe, Alex was born Feb. 12, 1930 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., the son of Alexander and Angela "Nell" (Yuknavich) Sadowski.  On Aug. 2, 1952 in Detroit, he married Doris Jean McAfee. He was employed by Meier Metal Service Centers in Hazel Park, retiring in 1991, as a foreman in materials control.  He also served as a union representative for UAW, and was an avid Detroit Red Wings fan. Surviving are his wife, Doris, three daughters, Mary (Jim) Norris of the Dominion Republic, Anne (Joe) Stemmer of Indian River, and Carol Hartley of Harrison Township, six grandchildren, Linda (Chris) LaTocha, Joseph (Lauren) Stemmer, Stephan (Madolynn) Stemmer, Elizabeth Stemmer, Kyle Hartley, and Luke LaTocha, a great-grandson, Elliot Stemmer,  two brothers, Joseph (Dottie) Sadowski of Harrisburg, Pa., and Robert (Katherine) Sadowski of Lutherville, Md., a sister in law, Lois McAfee of Macomb Township, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 1 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11 a.m., at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan, with Chaplain Dianne Meyers officiating.
