Janet M. Darr

1936 - 2015

Janet M. Darr, 79 of Cheboygan, passed away Dec. 10, 2015 after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke.
She was born Sept. 29, 1936 in Chicago, the daughter of Frank S. and Marjorie M. (Masterson) Flick on May 6, 1961 in Oak Park, Ill. Janet married Harold A. Darr who preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2008.
Janet embraced life and lived it beautifully. She was married to the love of her life for 47 years, and together they raised six children in a home filled with love and laughter. Janet was a woman of great faith who imitated the Lord's love and shared it freely with friends and family. Those who knew her admired her joyous spirit, her selflessness and her passion for living life to the fullest. Despite a lifetime of physical challenges, starting with polio as a teenager, Janet was a model of strength and resilience. She was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, a fun-loving friend and a beloved daughter of God.
Survivors include her six children, Cathleen Ploessl of Cheboygan, Mary Beth (Loren) Lathrop of Madison, Wisc., Stephen (Lois) Darr of Sharon, Mass., Sarah (Paul) Gordee of Minnetonka, Minn., Dr. Francis (Theresa) Darr of Marquette, Mich., Jonathon (Karen) Darr of Snohomish, Wash.; sister, Judy (Ken) Wadas of Volo, Ill.; brother, Don Flick of Ft. Collins, Colo.; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Besides her husband Harold, Janet was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Kathryn Huspen and Margaret Flick; and one brother, Charles Flick. 
The funeral mass was celebrated on Dec. 12 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church. The Rev. Paul Megge officiated. Janet was laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery next to her husband.
