Cynthia "Cyndi" Winogrodzki Martin, 66, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024.
Born in Johnstown, Pa., on June 28, 1958, Cyndi was the youngest of five children.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard Martin; her parents, John S. Winogrodzki and Mary Venglarchick Winogrodzki; and her brothers, John S. Winogrodzki Jr. and George M. Winogrodzki.

Cyndi was a stepmother to seven children: Judy Frizzell, Debbie Hennessee, Sandy Beauchemin, Rose Noell, Billy Martin, Chris Morris and David Martin.
Cyndi's education began at West End Catholic School and Garfield Junior High School. She later attended Greater Johnstown Vo-Tech and Cuyahoga Community College.
In 1984, she married Howard Martin, whom she met while both were working as security guards at a hospital. In 1987, she and "Mountain Man" moved to Murphy, N.C., where she would go on to make a significant impact in her community.
Cyndi was an active member of Ogreeta Baptist Church. She was also an active member of the Unaka Senior Center, where she could often be found working on puzzles for the other attendants. She also joined the Grape Creek Extension and Community Association (ECA) and contributed greatly to various projects.
Cyndi loved to crochet and knit, and many people were fortunate to receive her handmade socks, scarves and beautiful throws.
Cyndi was passionate about her involvement in the Murphy Rotary Club. She was dedicated to Rotary's mission and was honored to be a Paul Harris Fellow. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cyndi went above and beyond by delivering food to 10 families for a full year. Additionally, she collected 150 pairs of socks for Rotary to donate to the homeless.
Cyndi had a special circle of friends, including Nancy Helms, Mayor Tim Radford, Trevis Hicks, Pastor Eddie Cook, and Jerry and Robin Johnson, who cherished her friendship and community spirit.
