Dwight Edward "Eddie" Kernea

Dwight Edward "Eddie" Kernea, 62, of Murphy, passed away Monday, Sept. 29, 2025.
Eddie was born in Whitfield County, Ga. to the late Harold Wayne and Willa Belle Dockery Kernea.
He had worked as a lineman. Eddie excelled in woodcraft and art. He was commissioned by the state of Georgia to recreate the town of Tallula. The interactive diorama continues to be a permanent display in the Tallula Gorge Interpretive Center. Eddie also built the CCC camp for Vogel State Park and The Mississippian Indian Cultural Mounds for Rome, Ga.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, golfing and time with his family. Eddie was a jokester, mischievous; was kind and always lending a hand. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his brothers, Johnny Kernea, Larry Kernea (Jill) and Tim Kernea (Debbie); a sister, Brenda Anderson; his nieces and nephews, Nicole Sharp, Nathan Arrant (Lacye), Elizabeth Buchanan (Jason), Amber Mathieu (Cory), Michael Kernea (Elisabeth), Kendall Lovingood (Matthew) and Kailey Bailey (Thristen); his great nieces and nephews, Eliana Sharp, Elise Sharp, Marin Sharp, Delaney Reid, Ansley Buchanan, Brooks Buchanan, Skylar Mathieu, Myles Mathieu, Avery Mathieu, Carter Kernea, Corie Kernea, Sutton Lovingood, Maddox Bailey, Kollsen Bailey, Addison Bailey and two additional great-nieces on the way.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, in Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy with Pastor Hoyt Brown officiating. Music will be provided from Tommy and Dorothy Dockery.
Burial was in Bellview Community Cemetery in Murphy.
Pallbearers were TJ Dockery, Matt Burrell, Michael Kernea, Nathan Arrant, Thristen Bailey and Jason Buchanan. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Palmer, Jay Killian and Tony Dockery.
The family received friends from noon-1p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, in Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy prior to the service.
Townson-Rose Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
