Frank George Pates

1944 - 2025

Frank George Pates, 81, of Murphy, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, at his residence.
Born in Sheffield, Ala., on Jan. 25, 1944, Frank grew up in Biloxi, Miss., where he played high school football.
He attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he met his lovely wife of 59 years, Mary "Libby." Frank was a big college football fan and loved the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Frank loved music, and was a member of several bands throughout his life and never missed a night of karaoke.
Frank was the son of the late Frank George and Verna Clark Pates. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Pates, who passed away in 2023.
Surviving are his wife, Mary of Murphy; a daughter, Crystal and son-in law Luis Alejandro Rendon of Atlanta, Ga.; and daughter-in-law, Abbye Pates of Memphis, Tenn.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, is in charge of all arrangements.
