On July 15, 2025, heaven gained a radiant soul. Imagean Voyles Adams of Andrews, N.C., joined her late husband, Ray Adams, with the Lord surrounded by family and held in love – a fitting farewell for a woman whose life was defined by purpose, connection and a spirit that never dimmed.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Loretta Walker, who walked beside her through life's seasons. Her unwavering love lives on in her children: Lynn Isgrig and husband John of Asheville, N.C.; Keith Adams and wife Jane of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and Kim Roberts and husband Neal of Winston Salem, N.C., and Zack Ballard. Her spirit burns brightly in her grandchildren: Taylor Ballard, Hunter and Mason Isgrig, Ansley and Coleman Adams (wife Sydney), and Kristen Roberts. Her legacy also blooms through her great-grandchildren: Maxen, Millie Rae and Moriah Ballard.
Born in Murphy, N.C., on June 29, 1939, to Vernie and Felix Voyles, Imagean's path was marked by determination from the very beginning. She was a proud graduate of Murphy High School's Class of 1956 and attended Mars Hill College.
Imagean was never one to idle – she embraced each chapter of life with sharp intellect, enduring grace and an unshakable drive to make a meaningful impact.
For over five decades, she served as vice president of Ralph L. Crisp Realty Co. Inc., not merely selling houses, but building community, and welcoming newcomers like old friends into their forever homes. She led the establishment of Hall Memorial Park, Valleytown Cultural Arts Center, and the rest stop off U.S. 19/74 in Andrews, N.C. In 2016, the Andrews Chamber of Commerce named her Business Woman of the Year – a testament to her dedication and impact. Imagean was also a member of the Konnaheeta club for many years and served on various committees.
To know Imagean was to experience her formidable presence, her contagious laugh and supernatural pace of which she so effortlessly moved through life. She didn't know a stranger, as everyone she met became part of her ever-growing circle of care. Whether through work, worship or a warm meal at her table, she brought people together – creating community wherever she went.
She loved to travel with her family, especially to national parks around the country and the beautiful beaches of Florida. More than anything she loved her husband, Ray. Since his passing in March of 2023, every day she spent planning their reunion together in heaven.
A special thank you to Kim McGaha and Shelley Bristol who lovingly cared for Imagean the last 11 months. Also a special thank you to Jeannie Buchanan who always checked in on Imagean.
