James Hembree Obituary

James ""Jim"" Leroy Hembree, 84, of Goose Creek, S.C., passed on to glory on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
Born Nov. 4, 1940, in Swain County, N.C., he was the son of Woodrow and Clair Hembree of Murphy.
Senior Chief Hembree devoted 30 years to our country in the U.S. Navy. During his time, he was a part of the Vietnam War, among many other tours.
Jim was a member of the Santee Cooper Bass Club with the love of hunting, fishing, woodworking and anything outdoors.
He was a mentor to many. He dearly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Jim is survived by one brother, Kenneth; three children, James G., Gary and Connie; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren along with many other family and friends.
Though his battle has come to an end, his spirit remains among the mountains and streams he so cherished.
Jim will be taken back home to Marble, N.C., for his final resting place.

Just hearing of Leroy's home going....many wonderful memories of Hembree family members gathered at Woodrow and ClaraBelle's home.....my rememberances of Leroy include that he was never lost in the crowd...not a wallflower for sure. Even though I can't recall the last Hembree family gathering, I miss those... still family, still cared for. I pray that God meets you where and when you need him most in the days ahead.
