Jerry Hughes Obituary

Jerry "Sean" Hughes passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, at his home in Parma, Idaho.
Sean was born May 15, 1967, in Murphy, N.C. He was the son of Harry and Bivian Ledford Hughes.
He was a kind, loving, generous person who never met a stranger and usually had a smile on his face. Sean loved people.
He is survived by his parents; his wife, Joyanne Freeman Hughes; her two sons; his sister, Kristin, her husband, Myles, and their three daughters.
Sean attended school in Union County, Ga. He graduated from Union County High School in the Spring of 1986.
He loved sports and especially football. He played football from the fourth grade until he graduated, and basketball in middle school. Sean was a member Union County High School's highly successful football teams from 1984 through 1986.
He was a diehard Georgia football fan with a "Red and Black man cave" full of UGA memorabilia.
Sean was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army from July 6, 1986, until July 6, 1990. He attained the rank of Sergeant in the Military Police serving with the high security 558th Military Police Company in Germany.
After he was discharged, Sean joined the Hall County, Ga., Sheriff's Office on Oct. 2, 1990, and served until Sept. 16, 2007.
That year, he and his wife moved to the Boise, Idaho, area to be near her parents, James and Eva Rangitsch Freeman.
He was a member of the Iron Warriors Motorcycle Club of Idaho, a group of active and retired law enforcement officers dedicated to serving others.
Sean obtained his B.S. Degree in Social Studies Education from Boise State University in 2014.
He worked and helped coach at a local high school near his home in Parma, Idaho, until cancer made it impossible to work. At this time, he had to give up riding his beloved Harley-Davidson road cruiser.
Sean fought a valiant, painful, losing battle with  Renal Metastatic Carcinoma for over eight years.
Dakan Funeral Home in Caldwell, Idaho, will handle the services on Nov. 6, 2023.
Plans for a memorial service here will be announced at a later date.
