Joyce and Steve, I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I have so many memories of your whole family when you lived in Brasstown, and all the years we attended school together. Your Mom was always a beautiful person, inside and out. Nothing and no one can ever take the place of your mother and I know you will miss her greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Kate and my mother, Nell, were good friends in Sweet Home. I´m so sorry to hear of her passing, but so glad to know she is now safe with Jesus in heaven. I went to see her last October to let her know of my mom´s passing. Now they are together again. She was crocheting when I was there as she did often. I still remember attending her birthday party a few years ago and she gave every guest a hand crocheted afghan! She was quite a lady and will be missed.

Joyce and Steve, I am sorry for the passing of your mother. I lost my mother, Eva Nell Hughes in October 2017 and it is a totally hard thing to bear. Mothers are our angels and guides. Having a good mother is a blessing!

To Steve and Joy and the rest of the family, I am sending sincere condolences, prayers, love and hugs. To
say Aunt Kate will be missed is an understatement! She will always be a special lady and leaves so many wonderful memories!
I have so many many happy memories of her when I was growing up. She made my dress for me to wear the first day of school in the first grade, eighth grade graduation, my senior prom dress and my graduation dress. She made the BEST cakes! I remember her coconut cakes with jelly beans for Easter and her Christmas Fruit Cake and Ice Box Cake to name a few. She always had a cake or pie to be shared. She was an excellent cook and I loved the smells in her kitchen. I remember when she lost her shoe in the Brasstown Creek and we children were trying to catch it before it got to the bigger river. We did! Back then we didn't have more than one or two pair of shoes and they were precious to us.
I remember her sewing at her sewing machine set in front of the window so she could look out at the yard and the mountains. She made Steve the most beautiful coat when we were in the fifth grade. i remember helping with the washing in the basement, slopping the hogs, picking berries for
jellies and jams. There are so many memories that will always take me back in time and will bring a smile to my face. I am going to miss talking to her daily. Aunt Kate, I love you mostest!!!!
