Vaughn Day Obituary

Vaughn Leroy Day Sr., 77, of Murphy, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025.
Vaughn was born in Brevard County, Fla., to the late Albert Lee and Evelyn Bramblett Day.
He was retired after 35 years from law enforcement with St. Lucie County, Fla., and 15 years at Home Depot. After moving to Murphy, he worked three years as manager of Rib Country.
He loved going to church and wearing Florida Gator apparel.
Vaughn also enjoyed eating out at Mike's Seafood on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and The Sawmill Restaurant for breakfast on Saturdays.
He was a member of Covenant Baptist Church in Murphy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Bryant Day.
He is survived by his wife, Libby Day; his son, Vaughn Day Jr; his brother, Lamar Day (Leala); his sister, Mary Simon (Tony); and his grandchildren, Vaughn "Trey" Day III and Kassandra "Kassie" Elizabeth Day.
A funeral service was held at noon on Monday, Feb. 10, at Covenant Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Hayes officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Steve Androsko, Bud Watson, Dave Brooks, Steven Holland, Ronnie Holloway and Jonathan Cochran.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at Covenant Baptist Church the evening prior to the funeral service.
