Walter Bandy Obituary

April 12, 1945-July 9, 2025
Lynn Bandy, 80, of Arden, N.C., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 12, 1945, in Cherokee County, N.C., to Tom and Arizona Bandy. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Madelyn Morgan and Bobbie Carter, and brother Jim Bandy.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice Bandy; daughters, Kim Haight and Jody Gibson; son, Jason Bandy; grandsons, David Haight and Cody Gibson; granddaughter, Kennedi Head; great-grandsons, Brody Gibon, Colt Gibson, Jaxon Head; and great-granddaughter, Lucy Haight. He is also survived by brothers, Fred Bandy, Steve Bandy; and sister, Joan Casteel.
He served his family, his country and his community throughout his life.
Lynn served in the U.S. Army, A Company, 1st Battalion, 48th Infantry, stationed in Heidelberg, Germany.
He served his community in the Haw Creek Volunteer Fire Department. He helped coach his kids' teams and helped anyone in need of repairing cars, hydraulics, wiring and most anything else.
Lynn ran SADISCO, a salvage pool for a couple of decades. He owned Chevron Wrecker Sales, where he built and sold flat bed auto carriers that served a large community across the Southeastern U.S. In his final years, he worked at Reese's Trailer Sales building, repairing and selling trailers which brought him joy even at 80 years old.
Lynn enjoyed watching auto racing, baseball and football from his beloved recliner. He was a great
cook and enjoyed cooking. His family was his greatest joy.
In accordance with his wishes no formal service will be held. Lynn's legacy of his quick wit, sharp or dry jokes, wisdom and knowledge on repairing things, and willingness to help others, or simply being a rock to depend on will forever be carried in the hearts and minds of those who knew him.
He will be forever missed and the world is a little less bright without him in it.
