Maxine and kids,

What a loss, ours and yours.

I'm so glad I had a chance to see him

one more time (at Comiskey Park) and

proudly tell him about the time I tackled

him...I still can't believe he remembered

something like that.

I can still see him in all the sports,

especially football breaking thru the line

for another big gain. We will all have

memories like that. Love you all,

Joe Goddard

Dear Maxine,

What does one say to a special person in my life when it is now too late ? I personally felt that Al was my brother and I loved him as a brother.Going back to our Junior year at PTHS and up to our recent discussion we had in your living room, there was always that togetherness that nobody will ever be able to take from us.The football playing years together were precious , however, all the time we spent together in those early years just trying to get Al out of the house to do some socializing, I will never forget. As he shared his God given attributes, he really demonstrated his love for people and developed people skills that today I wish I would have learned from him. There is no way that my memory of him will ever be lost.Goodbye dear BROTHER.

Dear Maxine

I was shocked to hear of the death of Al. Sue and my prayers go out to you and the kids.I am so saddened by this that words can not express how I feel. Al was such a wonderful person, husband, father and coach. As a teacher and coach,Al was the best. He stood for everything that is good and the young men that were coached by him received so much. He tutored them in life skills and they benefited from his wisdom. He taught them to be "a straight arrow" in life. They loved their experience with him and loved him as their coach. For myself, Al was the best of friends as we went through our young coaching cereers. We had the greatest of times.I will always remember our Maine East days(1967-77) with the fondest of memories.

Dear David, Steve, Sheri, and Mrs Eck-

I wanted to express my personal and our family's deepest condolences on the passing of Big Al. Since I received your note I have been constantly thinking of all the wonderful memories of our growing up and how deep the impact of your father's participation in our lives ment. When I examine my life today and think about some of the goals I have, none are more important to me then to be able to coach or to sit on a lawn chair with my children's friends and watch them play. I never got to see your Dad play sports, although I am sure your prowess was comparable to his, so my fondest memory will be just that. Your dad, in his lawn chair, with my parent's and all of our friend's parents, cheering us on unconditionally. It is one that makes me smile.

David, I am not going to be able to make it Tuesday to the memorial, but my mother told me that your family may be doing another memorial/celebration later. I would love to be able to attend if you do have one. If there is anything Julie and I can do to help please let me know. My thoughts are with you.

Prayers and condolences go out to the family of "Mr. Eck."

He was an important part of many, many PTHS grads. He provided fond memories, and an excellent role model.

He will be missed.

Maxine, I was distressed to learn of your loss. Please accept our deepest condolences. I read with admiration the article by Marty Maciaszek entitled Area loses legend in Eck. He was truly a legend to accomplish these milestones in his short life span. Unfortunately I will be taking my Grandson Joe to Purdue Tuesday so I will not be able to personally express my sympathy to you and your family. We will remember him in our prayers. Love, Joe
