To the Gehrke Family, My thoughts and prayers are with you. No matter the circumstances losing a member of the family is not easy. As time passes though you will laugh more and remember with a smile. Al's picture is the best just the smile and glint in his eye I will always remember. God Bless you in these next season of firsts... Love to you all.

Dear Gehrke Family,

My family and I are so sorry to hear about Mr. Gehrke's death. He was always such a nice man to me and to all the Kirchbergs.

When I was a kid and would hang out with Heather at the house after school or Mrs. Gehrke would be trying to drag Heather out of bed in the morning, so we wouldn't be late for school, sometimes Mr. Gehrke was there. He was always pleasant and liked to engage in friendly conversation. He would ask me about my mom and dad and school and other things. He didn't have to go out of his way to have conversation with a kid, but he did. Not all friend's fathers did that. He and Mrs. Gehrke always made me feel welcome in their house. It was a fun place to be. I'll always remember his friendly smile.

Please know that your family is in our prayers as you go through this sad time.

Dear Gehrkes,Our deepest sympathy & prayers for you all. From 2nd grade on I never saw Al & didn't learn something &/or have a good laugh with him. He was one of the first to trust me to fix his cars, teach me about real estate&show me how to make (& drink) glogg to name just a few things.
I bless God that I got to sit with Al & the boys & chat last summer at the redneck open.
It's been a blessing & privelege to know you Al, Kitty & family. Can't wait to meet you in heaven Rex.
Through tears, with greatest love, "Thoedore" &family.

Uncle Al I could not be more honored and proud to be your nephew. You were a man who was tough yet loving. The kind of father everyone wants to have. Five children. All successful and and all fine ladies and gentlemen. This is also reflected in your grandchildren. This does not happen by accident. It take hard work, sacrifice, commitment and love. You and Aunt Kitty made this happen. As our hearts are heavy now we should also take time to celebrate your life and the legacy you leave behind.

Your Nephew Gary

I had the pleasure of getting to know Al Gehrke while supporting the Fettes, Love and Sieben computer network in the early 90's.

A favorite memory is going to his Lake Forest house to help him with a computer software problem. I was rewarded with a bottle of Chivas, as a bonus for my efforts.

I have not seen him since the 90's, but he remains in the top ten of favorite individuals that I had the pleasure of meeting in my life. A good, decent man. May he rest in peace.

My condolences to the Gehrke family.
