Dear Dan:
Just a few days before his death, I thought of your Dad again, as I did every year since December 1, 1958. I never felt more sorrow for a person than I did for him. Yet, he had the courage and strength to continue to live what I am sure was an exemplary life. God blessed him with that courage and strength to survive an unthinkable tragedy and further blessed him so that he could enjoy his children's children's children. I am sure that all of you are very proud of him and will continue to live his legacy of being a good man. In the words of Anthony de Mello, S.J., "Behold God beholding you (and your family), and smiling."
