Alexander Terras Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Alexander Terras, age 71. He was born in Chicago, IL, to Victor and Rita (Schubert) Terras. He passed away in Venice, Italy, on October 9 after a month-long adventure with his dear companion, Heather Kaszynski, through Portugal, Switzerland, Egypt, Kenya, and Tanzania. He was a well-respected attorney, most recently serving as Senior Counsel at Husch Blackwell after an illustrious career that spanned five decades. He continued to enjoy an occasional tennis match, the sport that earned him a letter jacket while at the University of Chicago. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Sinfonietta. He was a loving father and grandfather, as well as a mentor to many. He is survived by his sister, Irene Miller, his ex-wife, Karen Callan, his daughter, Mara Terras, and his two grandchildren, Ellis and Caleb.

Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at his home in Chicago, from 3-5:30PM. We encourage family and friends to offer condolences through donations to the Chicago Sinfonietta.

Alex was such nice man and wanted to help all those that asked. He was a pleasure to work with and he always had a small or said something funny. I saw him right before he left for his trip and he was still made us laugh. Rest in peace Alex.

Alex was a great friend, who possessed a brilliant mind, and became a trusted advisor over the years. I met Alex back in 1995 when he was outside counsel to our business at GE Capital, and continued to remain friendly with him, and to appreciate his guidance. During this past year, I was lucky enough to spend time with him on a weekly basis as we were working on the creation of a new finance company where he was going to play a key role on an ongoing basis. As sad as his loss feels right now, I was happy to know that he was able to enjoy his trip of a lifetime to Africa and Europe. My colleagues and I at Three Line Capital offer our sincere condolences to Heather and his family.
