Blessed to be a friend and former daughter-in-law of Alice (mother of granddaughter Kristen), my fondest memories are that she was kind to a fault, had a generous affinity for all living things, and even after 81 years of living, she maintained a childlike naivete in her relationships with all that knew her. Her special ability to accept, forgive, and love beyond the earthly limitations that are presented to all humans made Alice the kind of person whom others could only give back to in the same way. She brought out the best in us, and in our sorrow, we will yet be joyous because we were lucky enough to have her touch our lives. Special sympathies go out to her dear husband, Howard, her four children, and the grandchildren, the center of Alice's circle of love.

Grandma was always a huge part of my life and my childhood. She helped develop my interest in insects and other small creatures. She once had a jumping spider living in her kitchen that she fed. I especially liked the orange slugs that lived in her backyard- and everyone always got mad at me when I caught them. I always loved playing with the stuffed animals, plastic fruit, and rubber blocks at her house. Frankie, Molly and I used to build forts on the stairs. Grandma was a worry wort and she loved to nag everybody, but of course, we always knew that she did it cuz she cared. She had the craziest stories from her childhood, and I never got tired of hearing them. And she was a packrat. She saved EVERYTHING. I always knew that anything I gave her would be appreciated and never thrown away, instead displayed for years on the bathroom bulletin board. Grandma was always so cheerful and good hearted. Her and Grandpa also helped us grandkids save money for college. And her guestbook....she always made everyone sign her guestbook. She never forgot anyone (even though she always mixed up our names!). I love you, Grandma.

My mother, Alice, taught us the true meaning of "Love". She was a godly woman who walked as Jesus did. She loved all people, regardless of income or race. She loved the unloveables in this world. She never turned anyone away. She saw the good in people, even when no one else did. She could look into a person's heart and bring out their best. She put other people's needs before her own. She encouraged others to follow their dreams and prayed for all of us daily. We love and miss her, but she is at peace now and walking on streets of gold, hand in hand with Jesus.

I will always remember my mother for being so kind and considerate to everyone. It was a joy growing up with her as my mother. Her warm smile and open heart made you feel good to be around her. She told us many good stories of her own childhood. No matter how ill she may have felt at times she always had a smile and pleasant word for everyone. Her grandchildren loved to be with her. We will feel sad with her being gone, but happy to have grown up with her at our side.
